France - Canal du Midi - part 3

More photos from the Canal du Midi Day 6... We found a packet of 'Pastel de Nata' that we learned to love when in Portugal (top left). There are all up 63 locks and 350 bridges and other structures on the canal. Did you know that the Canal du Midi actually links the Atlantic to the Mediterranean, 240km from Toulouse to Sete? Initially it was considered as a way to avoid pirate raids in the Strait of Gibraltar and would of course shorten the long trade route. Now though it is mainly about leisure activities.
